Legend has it, The Wawel Dragon lived in a cave beneath Wawel Hill, terrorizing the city until a clever shoemaker named Skuba finally outsmarted him. Today, you can visit the dragon’s den beneath Wawel Castle and find a bronze sculpture of the dragon standing outside. Created by Bronisław Chromy in 1972, the six-meter-tall fire breathing statue has become one of Kraków’s most recognizable symbols.
